A better way to run elections

Electioneering has been going on for a year now (it only seems longer) and we can look forward to almost another year of the same.
       
Any winners yet?
       
Yes, one huge winner: the mainstream capitalist media! Tens of millions brought in for political ads, and the main event still to come.
       
A big negative of the scene is that the campaigners must spend so much time raising funds they don’t have time to do the people’s business (after they’ve done the corporations’ business).
       
The energy, money and time spent on campaigns is enormous.
       
There is a way to eliminate this costly and wasteful process: we can vote at our workplace for starters.
       
This voting method would be done in workplaces owned and managed by the workers. People would have the information about the state of the economy and other issues right at hand every day so they could make informed decisions without the years of campaigning we have now (after which we’re no better informed anyway).
       
Bad decisions might still be made. But they could be corrected on the spot by recalling representatives who proved incompetent and electing someone else.
       
Now, that would be a big, big advantage!


Many of the so-called “illegal aliens” live in the Southwest U.S., a huge area taken by force from Mexico in the 1846 war. If we went back to the pre-war border these people would be instantly back in their Mexican homeland, and a big part of the immigration controversy solved.
       
Of course, this would also mean the Americans there would become instant illegals in Mexico. Would they be allowed to have drivers licenses? To have jobs?
       
Granted, these kinks would have to be worked out. Please send me any ideas you have and I’ll post them next time.
